Freemacs by Russ Nelson is a source of inspiration. Freemacs is an emacs clone for MSDOS (and like) machines and (to quote Russ) it is the first programmable editor for the 80x86 architecture. The extension language for Freemacs is a string substitution language called Mint. Mint very directly inspired Tint in many ways.
GNU Emacs is a source of inspiration. Where it makes sense to me, I have tried to make Tint Emacs work the same way as GNU Emacs.
